Children's House

 CH Red Blue Rods

Our Children's House serves Pre-K* and Kindergarten students. Children this age are in what Dr. Montessori referred to as the period of The Absorbent Mind. It is a time when the child’s developmental “work” is a sensorial adaptation to his environment in the Children’s House. These children are explorers, learning to interact in a world rich with sensations and language which they soak up or “absorb.”  Students learn how to be independent and how to work for prolonged periods of time, encouraging concentration.

Admission into the public charter school program requires the student be 5 years old by Aug 31st of the school year, submission of an application and an opening offered at the school's annual lottery.

*In addition to our public kindergarten program, Washington Montessori Public Charter School also hosts a private day school for children ages 3 and 4 years old.  The Day School is a private, nonprofit , tuition based program and requires an application fee. This program is currently only available to students who either have a sibling in the charter school or whose parent or grandparent is a full-time staff member.
