  • Are you interested in touring our school? Parent Orientations are held on Tuesdays and Thursday from 9:00 - 11:00am. Call the office at 946-1977 and speak with Mrs. Jen Hales to schedule a date and time to attend.   Alternate times are available if needed.

This is what we do and how we do it, however, because we are a "public charter school" we are required to administer the North Carolina State EOG and EOC tests.

  • May 15th - 17th - Regular EOG Testing held for grades 3rd -8th.

  • Thurs May 17th 7pm in Middle School Classroom - Board of Trustees Meeting held.  Click here for Agenda.

  • Monday, May 28th - Memorial Day Holiday.  No school for staff or students.

    June

  • Friday, June 8th Black and White Night held at the Artisans Center downtown Washington.

  • Monday June 11th - 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony held at the Yacht Club, end of River Rd., Washington, NC 27889

  • Tuesday, June 12th - Last day of school.  1/2 day dismissal.  Field Day held.

Montessori Curriculum Coordinator Position Open.  Washington Montessori Public Charter School is seeking an experienced teacher or administrator to serve as Curriculum Coordinator.  This person will work collaboratively with all elementary, adolescent, and specialist teachers and will be a member of the administrative team.  Experience as a Montessori teacher or administrator and formal Montessori training is required.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
·      Directs and oversees the classroom environments for all 12 classrooms.  3-6 Level (3 classrooms), 6-9 Level (5 classrooms), 9-12 Level (3 classrooms), 12-15 Level (1 classroom)  
·      Supports and mentors Lead teachers and assistants.
·      Evaluates and implements Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
·      Schedules and leads teacher level meetings and parent education.
·      Supports professional growth and development of staff.
·      Blends the new Common Core Standards of NC seamlessly with the Montessori Method.
 
Two 6-9 Level Teacher Assistant Positions Open.  Washington Montessori Public Charter School is currently seeking 2 Teacher Assistants for the 6-9 (1st - 3rd grade) level.  Teacher Assistant job duties include but are not limited to:
·        Ensuring the welfare, safety and educational achievements of students
·        Using the designated Montessori curriculum
·        Performing tasks necessary to maintaining a clean, orderly, uncluttered Montessori environment
·        Coordinating activities with the Lead Teacher
·        Supplementing the classroom with materials made from school funds
·        Participating, at the request of the Lead Teacher, in parent conferences and communication throughout the year
·        Maintaining a parent contact log
·        Participating in school functions
·        Following the direction of the Lead Teacher to meet the needs of students with special needs
·        Meeting with the Lead Instructor, as necessary, to plan and problem solve
·        Following policies and procedures as outlined in the Washington Montessori Policy Manual
·        Participating in staff development and training
·        Assisting students from vehicles in the mornings
·        Arriving to work on time
·        Attending Encore
·        Checking Uniforms
·        Maintaining Observation Logs
