Admissions, Lottery and Enrollment
WMPCS is a public school open to all
children. There are no fees or tuition. To enroll a student an
application must be submitted to the administrative office. The annual
lottery is held at an open session Board of Trustees Meeting in January before the upcoming school
year. Applicants' names are pulled at random to fill any
available slots. Siblings of currently enrolled students that have
been at WMPCS the prior year are given
priority in order to ensure that brothers and sisters can attend
together.
For children who do not receive a
slot at lottery their names are placed on a waiting list. Although there is no guarantee of entry into the school for
someone on the waitlist, we strongly encourage all who are interested to
apply and get their child's name on the waitlist as soon as possible.
Administration places children from the waitlist all summer and through the
first 20 days of the school year.
At present, the school has 290
students enrolled with a staff of 35 teachers, assistants, and
administrators. Ms. Jen Hales is currently serving as our Interim Head of School.
If you are interested in learning
more about Washington Montessori Public Charter School call
252-946-1977 and schedule a time for an orientation. Orientations are
held on most Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00am until 11:00am.
This allows prospective parents the opportunity to tour our campus, talk
with Ms. Hales, and sit in a classroom to observe the
educational setting during the academic day.
